Today crash course is Omurice, Omelette + rice in other word. Nothing fancy, just eggs and rice and ketchup, super easy, kids lover. Great diet food because eggs and rice are very filling.
You can keep plain rice as I did or do the original version with chicken and veggies. Remember to have enough egg to coat the rice. 10 mins (if you have leftover rice that is)
This is how I did it: (Diet version)
1 small bowl of leftover rice
Chopped tomatoes, discard the juice.
Beat the 2 eggs with salt and pepper, heat the pan, pour in some veggie oil (not too much, 1 table spoon is OK). Wait til when you dip the wooden canola to the oil and see it’s bubbly. Pour the eggs in, wait until it build up a bade, put the rice and the tomatoes in the middle (remember don’t let the rice cluster, let it spread a little so it won’t be to heavy for the roll) and then roll it, wait 1 second, flip.
Don’t wait for the eggs to be cooked before you roll, it don’t stick. The eggs will be cooked eventually and the rice get steamed to it’s warm. Don’t worry. Ending should be creamy inside. Serves with ketchup. The lump of rice next to the omurice is what actually inside. I made too much so I decide to eat them separately.
Non dieter would find butter as a better substitution for oil. Some added milk, but be careful or the egg won’t set when you roll it.
Happy sunny omurice :P
